LAWS 677 - Intensive Trial AdvocacyCredits: 2The subject matter covered in this intensive course will include direct, cross and redirect examination; impeachment; opening statements and closing arguments; evidentiary foundations; and expert witnesses. Students will be immersed in the actual performance of all phases of the trial. Participants will learn under the guidance of experienced trial lawyers and judges in a simulated courtroom environment. For ten days, students will devote full time to this course developing their skills in actual trial work. In the last phase of the course, students will be assigned to two person teams and conduct a full scale trial. Note: This course satisfies the skills course graduation requirement. It also offers an excellent opportunity for trial skills preparation for students participating in the Mock Trial program, but all students who have satisfied the pre-requisite may enroll. Students may not take this course and Trial Advovacy. Basis of Grade: Class exercises Form of Grade: Pass/Fail |
